In response to the August 22, 2026 Section 338 tariffs on Canadian imports, the Canadian Government announced today a list of products subject to counter-tariffs ranging from 15% to 50%, effective September 8, 2026.
The list of products includes commodities such as steel, dairy, fish, appliances, pulp and paper, electronics, and agricultural equipment, representing $27.6 billion in US-origin imports.
The full list of affected goods, support for workers and businesses affected by these countermeasures, and the process for requesting remissions are available on the Government of Canada Department of Finance site.
Existing Surtax orders, such as US autos, will remain in place, and some existing counter-tariffs on steel and aluminum will increase from 25% to 50% to match US rates.
