Trade Regulation Updates

Deadline for New CTPAT Validation Requirements Set for January 5, 2027

November 6, 2026

In an update to the Executive Order released on June 3, 2026, titled “Strengthening Customs Enforcement,” the US Government has announced, through the Federal Register, a date of Jan. 5, 2027, for one of the upcoming changes to how foreign importers of records will work in the US. Importantly, this rule defines foreign importers of record (IOR) as those who do not meet the requirements of being a US IOR.

Beginning Jan. 5, 2027, foreign importers into the US must either be Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) validated or work with a customs broker who is.

PCB is a CTPAT-validated broker and has been every year since 2010. For assistance with importing as a foreign importer of record, please contact our team today.
