On July 1, 2026, the Canadian Government published additional amendments to the United States Surtax Remission Order (2025). The amendments include key deadline extensions, a new goods schedule, additions to existing schedules, and additional guidance on claiming surtax relief.
The amendments affect shipments of steel, aluminum, motor vehicles, aerospace parts, and other specific commercial goods that are subject to the United States Surtax Order.
The full details of this amendment can be found here.
The following summarizes several key points in the amendment. Importers are encouraged to work closely with their broker for specific applications:
New Schedules
- Surtax remissions have been added under tariff classification numbers set out in section (4.4) and the new Schedule 6, both of which have been newly added to the order.
